If you are like me and love to accumulate all the Bible translations you can -- this page is for you. One of the most beneficial things you can do is to simply read the Bible. Although all Bible translations give you the same message, reading a new one can cause it to seem fresh and new. When using any Bible translation, remember that although it is God's Message, it has been translated by human beings who are not perfect. Therefore, there is no perfect translation. For serious study of the Bible you have to consider the words used in the original manuscripts, which were written in Hebrew and Greek. (However, just knowing Hebrew and Greek will not automatically make you understand the Bible. For true understanding the Holy Spirit has to reveal Truth to you. The Pharisees in the New Testament "knew" what God's Word said, but they completely missed the true message and did not even recognize Jesus Christ as sent from God.) Fortunately, there are many study tools designed for those who do not read Hebrew and Greek, which can help you grasp the meaning of the original words of God. However, translating is an art -- not an exact science -- and involves understanding the culture and times -- as well as divine illumination. So, it can be helpful to look at how several others have translated a passage. Hearing it expressed in different words can strike your thinking -- and then you can see it more clearly. I have tried to list all the English translations of the Bible in print (and not on this page). If you know of others, please email us.
